This innate respect is why Explora Journeys – in partnership with Fincantieri – is committed to building the ships of tomorrow, utilising the very latest in environmentally supportive technologies whilst being primed to adapt to alternative energy solutions as they become available.
Explora Journeys commits to developing ground-breaking technologies that will help create a more positive future, not just for this generation but for future ones too.
Our fleet design incorporates provision for battery storage allowing future hybrid power generation, as well as the latest selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology, enabling a reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by 90%.
Single-use plastics will not be used onboard the ship, nor will they be offered during land-based experiences - Explora Journeys is dedicated to leaving a positive impression on the places and people visited on their ocean journeys.
All six ships will be RINA Dolphin-certified, ensuring low underwater noise emissions, which in turn contributes to the preservation of marine life

EXPLORA III, IV, V and VI will be LNG-powered, with EXPLORA V and VI also being hydrogenpowered
A new generation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) engines will tackle the issue of methane slip and will also be equipped with industry first environmental technologies and solutions, including a containment system for liquid hydrogen that will enable them to use this promising low-carbon fuel.
